Discover Great Yarmouth’s fascinating history, its rich maritime and fishing heritage and some of the colourful characters who made their living from the sea.
Wander through a Victorian ‘Row’ and see inside a fisherman’s home. Experience the heady atmosphere of a 1950s quayside, take the wheel of a coastal Drifter and hear gripping tales of wreck and rescue on the high seas.
The Tolhouse Gaol has had an eclectic history, being a former merchant’s house and later a courthouse and prison. Its walls have borne witness to riots and rebellions, heard the pleas of those accused of witchcraft, piracy and smuggling, and survived two bomb blasts during WW2. Today the building tells the story of crime and punishment in Great Yarmouth.
